Thus, users who encountered problem of low disk space always had no solution. In the past users could only solve this problem indirectly by converting dynamic disk to basic with Dynamic Disk Converter, then resize it with some partition manager, such as Aomei Partition Assistant. About this method you could refer to this article “Three ways to convert dynamic disk to basic”. Today we will not discuss this obsolete method any more, resizing dynamic disk directly with Aomei Dynamic Disk Manager become a new hot topic. First let’s learn some limitations of the built-in Disk Management (DM) on resizing dynamic disk.
Dynamic disk helps users maximize data storage performance, especially for small business company. But there is still two major disadvantage of it. When users convert a basic disk to dynamic, it is impossible to convert it back in Disk Management without data loss. Besides, in most conditions, users cannot resize dynamic disk volumes, especially the system volume. In editions before Vista, users were not able to resize dynamic disk conveniently. They can only extend certain types of dynamic volume in Disk Management. List bellow is even impossible to realize:
As you see, there are so many limitations of Disk Management(DM) on managing dynamic disk, it integrate only a little basic functions, such as create/delete volume, format volume. Obviously, this can't meet our requirements. Therefore, Aomei Dynamic Disk Manager gradually comes into user’s sight for its powerful function and fresh interface.
As we know resize dynamic disk contains extending volume and shrinking volume. How to extend system volume maybe the most visible user concerns.
Here we have an example based on Windows Server 2003, the existing volumes listed below:

Step1. Launch Aomei Dynamic Disk Manager Server Edition, right-click drive E, select “Resize/Move volume”.

Note: To resize dynamic disk, in order to protect the system volume, the operation will be completed in Reboot Mode, therefore, rebooting is necessary. The software will require for rebooting after click “Commit”.
After waiting for some time (the time it cost is depend on the numbers of data on the volume which you want to resize, the more data on it the longer time it will cost), you may find the dynamic disk is resized successfully.
