How to Convert to MBR Disk？
Windows Disk Management can only convert GPT disk to MBR disk when the GPT disk is empty, however, if the GPT disk contains partitions, the “Convert to MBR Disk” option is grayed out when you right click the GPT disk.
So, in order to remove the limitation from your computer maintenance, AOMEI Dynamic Disk Manager brings the feature of converting GPT disk to MBR disk and ensures data security. Please note the following tips before converting:
- The GPT disk should be basic disk. (Check the article convert to basic disk for detail)
- “Convert to MBR Disk” is available only on the condition that there are four partitions at most on the existing GPT disk
- Before purchasing, please free download the demo version of AOMEI Dynamic Disk Manager to follow the guides
Launch AOMEI Dynamic Disk Manager, The main interface shows the local disk information:
Right click the selected GPT disk and choose “Convert to MBR Disk”:
The new window pops out to remind us the change and click “OK”:
The change can be previewed in the main disk map, GPT disk change into MBR disk. We can use the same method to convert other GPT disk to MBR disk. Lastly, we should take the changes into effect by clicking “Commit” on the toolbar. Instead of choosing “Commit” directly, we also can view pending tasks in advance:
AOMEI Dynamic Disk Manager will take several minutes to finish the process. After rebooting, the GPT disks have been converted to MBR disk and keep all data protected at the same time.
